It is with heavy hearts we post the passing of Sally Goodman. In 1978 Sally was one of the original Board members along with a handful of other people that gathered around a kitchen table and started the Robertson County Players. People with actual very little theater experience but who saw a need and an opportunity to bring community theater to Springfield and Robertson County. From there they started recruiting “theater” people and put into motion the first season of RCP productions that fall.
Early on Sally admitted that while she really enjoyed the Robertson County Players she herself would never be in a play. However, in 1980 a play named “Claudia” came along. After much coaxing we talked Sally into taking on the role of Claudia’s mother and she did a outstanding job. Mrs. Brown, as played by Sally, was a strong character and set the example of grace, dignity and yet warmth under the most trying of circumstances. After “Claudia” closed, Sally never took on another role on the RCP stage. Occasionally she would be approached and encouraged to audition but she would shake her head, smile and say, ‘I had a good one once, let’s just leave it at that.’ She remained a strong supporter of the RCP up until her passing.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Robertson County Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service. Remember the Goodman family as they mourn the loss of one so dear to all who knew her.
