Director's Notes

I first saw The Mousetrap in London in 2022 during the 70th Anniversary of the play. Because I have read SO many murder mysteries, I have developed a bad habit of guessing the ending and ruining the suspense. What thrilled me the most about The Mousetrap was that I truly did not know “whodunnit” until it was revealed at the very end! I felt so fully invested in each of the very unique eight characters, and I was thoroughly surprised at how many times a show so fast-paced and heavy at times could make me belly laugh (Agatha Christie never fails!). My goal is for you to leave this show feeling like you were the ninth guest of Monkswell Manor. I am incredibly thankful to the talented cast and crew for their consistent hard work and dedication to bringing our vision to life. I cannot fully express how talented, creative, and dedicated my co-director (and incredible set-designer) Riley Bowers is. It is a rare show that breathes life into you rather than wears you down, and the cast, crew, and Riley have ensured this is the case for me! Put on your dark coat, light scarf, and soft felt hat, and enjoy the show! -Kait Logsdon

There’s nothing like a classic Agatha Christie murder mystery to ring in the cold weather and holidays. This play in particular has remained as popular as it is because it’s got all the elements you want in a show: humor, suspense, memorable characters, and the imminent threat of murder. A show like this only works if you have the actors to make each character come alive, and it’s been truly wonderful working with the eight actors who have made this show so much fun. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I’ve enjoyed working with Kait and the cast and crew to bring it to life! -Riley Bowers
